ABOUT THE EVENT:

One of the most unique, scenic, wilderness relay courses in the United States – relay race runners will trace the wild Rogue River through the Cascade Mountains to the wild Oregon coast over this 218 mile course.

Come and discover Oregon’s best kept secret – the Wild Rogue Relay

The Wild Rogue Relay consists of 12-Person or 6-Person Ultra teams that rotate through 36 transition areas. Each relay team member on a team of twelve runs 3 legs of varying lengths and difficulty and will cover an average total distance of 18-20 miles. Teams of 6, known as ultra teams, will run 6 legs of varying lengths, for a total of 35 to 40 miles. We may be the only relay that recognizes ultra team finishers with a version of the finisher’s shirt that says “Ultra” on the back. (For more on how the relay works, CLICK HERE.)

The relay begins on the shorts of Applegate Lake just south of Jacksonville, Oregon. The course winds through the Applegate Valley, with a major exchange at the Red Lily Winery, and then heads to the Rogue River at Merlin. The route follows the river until the road runs out, and then climbs into the mountains before dropping back down again to Eden Valley and eventually back to the Rogue River. The race traces the Rogue to its mouth at Gold Beach, and then follows the spectacular coastline south to the finish in Brookings, Oregon. Every leg brings new photo opportunities and exciting running. Come and discover Oregon’s best kept secret – the Wild Rogue Relay.

Spectators are welcome on the course.

REFUND POLICY:

Wild Rogue Relay has a NO REFUND policy. Please note that we do not offer any refunds or discount codes if you cancel your registration for this event.

TRANSFER POLICY:

Wild Rogue Relay has a NO TRANSFER policy. A new captain can be designated from within the team roster up to 10 days before race weekend.

BENEFICIARY:

The Jackson County program of Special Olympics Oregon offers training and competition opportunities in 12 different Olympic-style sports. There are three sports seasons throughout the year, with statewide competitions and training in winter, summer and fall.

The Jackson County local program is 100% volunteer and serves about 150 athletes each season. The management team, our fundraising team, every coach – are VOLUNTEERING their time and working hard to provide our athletes with the best training and competition experiences. There are no paid staff in Jackson County! And there are NO COSTS to our athletes to participate! Jackson County Special Olympics

TEAM VOLUNTEERS:

Each Relay Team must provide race volunteers (two (2) for 12-Person Teams and one (1) for 6-Person Ultra Teams). When teams are unable to secure volunteers, they have the option of making a charitable donation in order to rent volunteers who will provide the required volunteer(s) for the relay. The minimum donation for one (1) volunteer working a 6 to 8 hour shift is $120 ($150 after March 15). This is an excellent opportunity for all relay teams to make a charitable contribution! Many different non-profits in the communities this race runs through will be beneficiaries of this program.
