Regence and Propel Insurance present the most unforgettable 5K fun run to benefit job training programs for Southern Oregon Goodwill!

Chase or be chased, you choose.

5K runners aged 9+ can register as an individual or teams of Humans, Zombies, or Placed Zombies. Placed Zombies don’t run, they are hiding on the course to steal flags*. Kids 4-8 years can register for the AllCare Health Kid's Survivor Sprint to collect swag around a course at the Pear Blossom Park. Every runner earns a voucher to redeem at Common Block Brewing Company for food or beverages. Pre-race contests include Drop Dead Beauty contest and team costume contests.

The Running Dead 5K is a charity event to benefit Goodwill’s job training programs in the Southern Oregon region including Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath and Lake counties and Siskiyou county in CA.

It’s NOT a timed event, but an experience set to begin just before dusk. This is a age 9 and older event and is a non-violent, just-for-fun race. The only grabbing on the course will be for flags — for safety reasons no strollers, bikes, skateboards, or other wheeled equipment is permitted for runners.

The 5K course will culminate with the Apocalypse Party at Common Block Brewing Company at 315 E. 5th St. (intersection with 5th St. and N. Apple St.) for runners, their supporters and general public. King of the Zombies and Ultimate Survivor will be crowned at the Apocalypse Party. The party features music, games, contests, prizes, food, beverage, and community booths. All registered runners will receive a voucher redeemable at Common Block Brewing Company for food or beverage.

5K Rules:
If you register as a human, your ultimate goal is to cross the finish line with at least one “life” remaining — you start with a belt with three flags. Humans who survive with one flag will be quarantined and will vie for King of the Survivors. If you sign on as a running zombie, your aim is to collect as many lives (flags) as you can for the purpose of becoming King of the Zombies at the after-party, the Apocalypse Party.

You can also be a “placed zombie” – meaning you pay extra to have the luxury of not running the 5K course because you’ve been “placed” at a hiding spot along the route. Placed zombies can surprise running humans in a quest for flags.

Human runners: if all of your flags have been taken, you are NOT automatically transformed into a zombie and you may NOT take another runner’s flags, chase other runners, or pick up flags off the ground. Silly humans, flags are for zombies!

AllCare Health Kids Survivor Sprint Overview:
NEW this year! kids ages 4-8 can compete in a sprint within the Pear Blossom Park that begins a half hour before the 5K. All participants get a bib, a backpack for swag to grab along the course, and the same medallion as the 5K runners. Kids can stay at the main stage for group activities during the 5K. Registration fee is $10 per child. No team rates.

Now in the its third year, the Running Dead 5K is an event like no other in Southern Oregon!

Special FX Makeup:
Makeup tents will be open as of 1:00 p.m. for complimentary basic makeup from Ro Sham Bo Salon.

Food and Brews: All finishers, zombie or human, as well as kids sprint participants will receive a voucher at the finish line to redeem at Common Block Brewing Company valid for beverages or food!
