Welcome to the 38th Annual Ice Breaker Road Race

Join over 4,100 runners, joggers and fitness walkers who enter the Ice Breaker Road Race each year. The course starts in Downtown Great Falls at the Civic Center, going East through the business district, winds through several residential neighborhoods, across the scenic Central Avenue West Bridge and eventually ends up back downtown. The five-mile race offers a competitive format with the three-mile run offering both a competitive and recreational format. Register the entire family in the one-mile run and fitness walk and take advantage of our special family rate.

Compete in a 5 mile race, 3 mile run or a 1 mile run/walk. The race has been named one of the top 100 road races in the country by Runner’s World Magazine. Geared toward both families as well as experienced and elite runners, it offers a 5 mile race, 3 mile run and a 1 mile run/fitness walk. The Ice Breaker has attracted an average of 4,100 participants each year and is not only a fitness, competitive event, but also a social event for the community for over 30 years. All race participants are provided a long sleeved T-shirt, awarded a finisher medal and a free lunch after the event. A special ‘race the penguin’ (official Ice Breaker mascot) is offered for the younger kids in the 1 mile event.

The race was established in 1980 and has been run annually ever since. How much does it cost?

The Ice Breaker Road Race continues to be a competitive race for dedicated runners, as well as a reasonably priced activity for healthy-minded families.

Registration fees are:
$14 –Youth 10 years of age and under
$20 – Adults and youth 11 years of age and over
$58 – Family of 4*
* Family of 4 includes Parent(s) and dependents age 1-18 from same household.
$12 for each additional youth from the same household. Family of four registration not available online.
$2 – late registration fee on all entries April 17-23

 

PACKET PICKUP / REGISTRATION ON RACE WEEKEND:

Saturday, April 22:
Registration continues and official race packets can be picked up at the Great Falls Civic Center, from 10am to 6pm, or on Race Day from 8am to race time.

Sunday, April 23 - RACE DAY!
Late registration will be taken race day, from 8 am to 1 pm at the Great Falls Civic Center; south entrance. A $2 late fee will be assessed, per person.

RACE TIMES AND COURSE:

1pm - 5 mile race (TAC-RRCA cert.)
2pm - 3 mile race (race/run)
3pm - 1 mile (walk/run)
All races start in front of the Great Falls Civic Center on Central Avenue.

ALL RUNNERS / WALKERS RECEIVE WITH ENTRY:

  • A uniquely designed long sleeved Ice Breaker shirt – Availability and size will be on first come, first serve basis.
