ABOUT THE EVENT

Hagg Lake Triathlon – Rich in Beauty, Rich in Tradition!

Olympic Triathlon, Olympic Duathlon, & Sprint Tri, and AquaBike

The modern sport of triathlon had its modest beginnings with an event held in Mission Bay in San Diego, CA on September 25, 1974. There were 46 athletes that day. Seven years later, Hagg Lake Triathlon became one of six stops on the Bud Light Triathlon Series Tour drawing about 500 athletes, with Dave Scott coming out on top. Today, as one of the nation’s oldest and longest running triathlon events,

Hagg Lake enters its 34th year and it continues to draw upwards of 600+ athletes. Its popularity is rooted in this rich tradition and the exceptional venue, which is one of the most scenic in the country. And, the Hagg Lake course offers a true test of this terrific sport with its rolling hills on both the bike and run leg portions of the event. Make the Hagg Lake Triathlon one of your summer stops and compete on the course that has seen many of the greats in the sport of triathlon.

Course Info
Olympic Triathlon: The Hagg Lake course is famous for its race history, scenic beauty, and challenge. The swim is a two counter clockwise laps, 1500 meter triangular with water temperatures in the mid 70’s. The bike course is challenging with rolling hills. Cyclists will complete two counter-clockwise loops around the lake. Both loops will include a two mile out and back section on Scoggins Valley Road. The 10K mile run is also scenic and challenging, with an out and back course clockwise along the lake side road.

Olympic Duathlon: Duathlon participants will begin with a 5k run. The 40K bike portion consists of two counter-clockwise loops around the lake. Each loop will include the two mile out and back section that the triathletes will also cover. The final 5K run will take place on the same course as the first leg of the duathlon.

Sprint Triathlon: The Sprint course is basically a shortened version of the Olympic distance, which will include a 1/2-mile swim, one complete loop (including one out-and-back on Scoggins Valley Road) on the bike, and a 5k run.

Sprint & Olympic AquaBike: The AquaBike will take place on the same Swim and Bike Courses as above. Course Info
